Centuries ago before the Europeans came and colonized Indonesia, Chinese people have first arrived. At first they just open up trade opportunities, but most of them eventually settled and lived there as a citizen of Indonesia .

Chinese people bring much influence to the local community. Some of them are cultures , customs and religion. This evidence can be seen from some of those relics are scattered throughout most of the archipelago.

One of these relics is in the Tuban area of pagoda . Pagoda overlooking the sea is known as the Pagoda " Kwan Sing Bio ".

Buddhagaya Watugong Monastery Semarang


Vihara Buddhagaya Watugong, Semarang, Central Java, was the first monastery established in Indonesia since the collapse of Majapahit and the destruction of the Buddha-Dhamma as well as the disappearance of Buddhist community in the archipelago.
Starting from the arrival of Venerable Naradha Mahathera of Sri Lanka in around 1930 AD, which became the first Buddhist missionaries after 500 years of post-Majapahit. Historically, this Watugong Buddhagaya monastery was officially founded in 1957.In this monastery planted "-Bodhi Tree" [The tree is 'credited' to the-Buddha reached enlightenment at the time], and the plant is Bhante Naradha Mahathera.

Angpao



Angpao the lunar new year has a special term that is "Ya Sui ', which means a gift given to anak2 associated with increasing age / turn of the year. In ancient times, this gift is usually in the form of sweets, candy and foods. Henceforth, for the times, parents find it easier to give money and let the child decide what gift they would buy. The tradition of giving money as gifts Ya Sui appeared around the time of the Ming and Qing. In the literature on Ya Sui Qian wrote that the child uses the money to buy firecrackers, sweets.
